Glucosamine Hydrochloride
Glucosamine is an amino sugar. Glucosamine is a natural compound that is found in healthy cartilage. Hyaline cartilage or articular cartilage encapsulates our bone ends providing a smooth frictionless surface. Glucosamine is a normal constituent of glycoaminoglycans (GAG), which makes up connective tissue and when combined with a protein it creates proteoglycans. These molecules have the ability to retain moisture and in effect supply the cushioning for our joints.
Glucosamine hydrochloride provides an alternative source of glucosamine for people with hypertension that may be on a sodium restricted diet. The hydrochloride form of glucosamine contains significantly less salt than the traditional form of glucosamine sulphate. Glucosamine hydrochloride, due to its chemical structure, contains more elemental glucosamine in an equivalent volume compared to the sulphate form. This means a person may take a smaller volume of glucosamine hydrochloride and still achieve an equal amount of glucosamine. The everyday outcome from this form of glucosamine, is smaller capsule sizes are achieved when using glucosamine hydrochloride which makes life just a little easier.
